Welcome, my name is Shawn Wheeler, currently I am the Executive Director of Technology for the Tolleson Elementary School District. I did take a brief hiatus from public education and transitioned to corporate America as the Director of System Solutions (Western Region) for SAFARI Montage. However, I missed the direct contact with students and teachers in the schools and found my way back to public education. I love technology and what it can do for education.
I began my career in education teaching 7th and 8th grade Technology Life Careers in the fall of 1993. July of 1997 I joined the Information Management and Technology Department as a Technology Training Specialist. 2004 I was promoted to the position of Director of the IMT Services and Training Department. April 2009, I left the Peoria Unified School District and took a position with SAFARI Montage. After several months living in hotels and jet setting around the country I found being without my family and the day-to-day working of a school system were too difficult to give up and I found a great home in Tolleson Elementary District. The one thing that has never changed is my love of education and technology, and more what technology can do for education.
Why a digital portfolio?
In the past, this URL was used to host my resume. However, I quickly discovered it is very difficult to highlight and celebrate professional accomplishments. Additionally, I have become increasingly involved in various projects involving a number of different people and I needed a central location to send colleagues and friends to, to learn more about these projects.

This site contains a standard menu down the left margin. Clicking on any link
will cause your web browser to open the page attached to that link inside of
your browser. Page contained within this web site will contain a link back to
this “Home” page. The other links will leave this web site therefore, the use of
the back button in your browser is required.
I am also an avid podcaster and host of Adventures in Podcasting, which
chronicles my adventure in bringing Podcasting and RSS to my school district as
well as sharing this information with others around the world. Between podcast
episodes, I occasionally put my thoughts about Educational Technology on my
blog. For conveniences RSS feeds to the podcast and blog have been provided on
the left menu.
